Project Summary EN
14 Delivery of the MIE Curriculum The other key element of the implementation was the delivery of the MIE Curriculum to migrant women in each of the partner countries. This training adopted a similar approach to the train-the-trainer in adopting a blended learning format, ensuring that the delivery was experiential and provided an opportunity to try out resources and tools that were considered to be applicable to their local circumstances. The Migrant Integration Expert Curriculum was delivered to more than 140 migrant women, with at least 20 participants from each partner country. These women were drawn from more than 20 countries of origin, reflecting the diverse nature and needs of migrants entering the EU. The training delivery was delivered in up to 40 hours of face-to-face classroom learning supplemented by up to 110 hours of self-directed learning where the migrant women would have the opportunity to explore the resources developed in more detail. Many of the trainers that delivered the MIE Curriculum had been participants on the train-the-trainer programme, ensuring that there was connectivity between the two main elements of implementing the Project. Key benefits from the training for participants have included: • Increased Self-Confidence – participants developed their self-confidence as a result of their engagement with the training, with trainers observing a noticeable difference in participants over the course of the training; • Development of Relationships – participants benefited from engaging with one another both during and following the training, including collaborating on activities and learning from one another’s past experiences; • Increased Cultural Understanding – participants had developed a better understanding of other migrant communities, including the culture of the host country; • Increased Knowledge – participants gained a better understanding of local supports that they could access in their local area; • Common barriers faced – participants recognised that they faced many common barriers and could therefore learn from one another; and • SkillsDevelopment – participants developed skills including communication and presentation skills and the confidence to use them as a part of the training.
