Project Summary EN

23 • Use the merits of the INTEGR8 methodology and its up-scaling potential. From a policy perspective, if integration is to be achieved, it is necessary to continue to work with and alongside migrant women to develop and design a coherent integration strategy that is clearly understood by all stakeholders. The research results prove there is a need for policy improvement in the field in order to make integration more effective, to better sustain migrants’ needs and valorise a specific resource – the migrant women themselves – which, so far has been not used or has been insufficiently utilized to maximize the integration results and speed up more tangible integration effects in migrant communities. The Policy Paper is available to download from the project website at http:// www.integrateproject.eu . Comparative Analysis Study The purpose of the Study has been to analyse the findings from the engagement with the migrant women in the 7 partner countries and to compare and contrast the findings. This included the baseline research carried out but also the experiences of partners through the delivery of the Project. The Study presents statistical data and policies that impact on migration at both a national and EU-wide level, as well as re-affirming the methodology used for the delivery of the Project and making recommendations at a national level in all partner countries. The key lessons learned from the Project are as follows: • There is an extremely high level of interest, energy and commitment amongst migrant women to: participate in this type of project; make a positive contribution to support the integration of other migrant women; work together, share their skills and support each other; get more involved in their communities. • The social benefits of participation were significant. Women greatly valued the opportunity to meet, interact and work together as part of the training, follow up planning meetings and running MIE activities. This interaction also helped to boost confidence and self-esteem significantly. • Participants had extremely varied backgrounds, language/literacy skills, and work-related experience/skills. Where training and project activities enabled women to recognise, share and build on these, the impact was greater • The project enabled new and important links to be built between individuals, projects and organisations.
