Project Summary EN
9 Migrant Integration Expert (MIE) Curriculum The purpose of the MIE Curriculum is to train and qualify migrant women to enable them to work within their respective migrant communities to support integration with host communities and with other migrant communities. This is made up of: • A Tutor Manual to support adult educators when delivering the Curriculum; and • A Learner Workbook containing handouts, worksheets and assignments that can act as a resouce for future reference for migrant women when working with micro-networks. The aims for the Curriculum have been: • To engage migrant women in the design and development actions of the MIE; • To build on migrant women trainees’ existing skills, knowledge and experience; • To develop migrant women trainees’ skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate informal local micro-networks effectively; and • To identify and provide support as needed in relation to engaging the target groups and facilitating informal micro-networks. Modules have been designed to provide flexibility in their planning and delivery, recognising the diversity in the circumstances of the migrant women in partner countries. The Curriculum provides the opportunity for learners to develop their skills and competences based on their own needs and aspirations and sets out the skills that will be developed by those that complete the training. The Curriculum has been designed so that individual modules or units can be delivered as stand-alone activities in isolation from the rest of the course. There is a good mix between theoretical information and practical exercises allowing the trainer the opportunity to tailor the delivery to the needs of the group. There is the potential for the Curriculum to be accredited to an EQF Level 4 award level in the UK and Ireland. The Curriculum incorporates 7 Modules subdivided into learning units as follows:
